TWO women have died in a tragic sauna accident after the door handle broke, leaving them trapped inside for an hour and a half.
The pair – a mother and daughter – were relaxing in their friend’s steam room in Jicin, northern Czech Republic, when disaster struck.
But while they were in there the handle of the only door somehow snapped off, trapping them inside.
Police spokeswoman Iva Kormosova said in a statement today: “The mother and daughter aged 65 and 45 were taking a sauna at their friends’ place in a garden colony.
“The owner thought they were taking too long to come out so she went to check and found them lying on the floor.”

“They tried to break the window on the door but failed.”
Kormosova said the pair had been in the sauna for around 90 minutes before they were found.
Medics were called but declared the women dead at the scene.
Post-mortem examinations are due to be held.
